What’s the significance of the House/Castle symbology in the RWS Tarot?

Ever noticed the mushy clay house in the Rider-Waite Tarot deck? It is placed on the Ace of Wands, the 7 of Cups, & the 10 of Pentacles cards.

This mushy clay house represents a brilliant idea in its earliest stage of being, containing within it the potential of becoming something great. All big things come from small beginnings.

The Tarot portrays the evolution of this idea, from clay mush to huge castle, within a handful of cards each depicting different sized houses, which add another layer of meaning to that specific card reflecting upon the various stage a certain goal is at during its manifestation process — from seed to fruition. See pic below for reference.

10 OF PENTACLES:

The mushy clay house represents the old man’s brilliant idea for the home and estate he wanted to provide his family with. Perhaps involving a legacy he could leave behind when he is gone. He bridged over that idea into the manifest.
